  • I've seen cheaper electric bikes, what's the difference?

Still the old adage - you give what you get. At e-Custom Cruzers, we chose not to bother with the cheaper, "rough" models. In fact, we only deal with quality machines that are built to get the job done. Buy cheap, buy twice is our policy.

  • How should I clean my electric bike?

Clean your e-bike like a normal bike. Use a hose, sponge, preferably a cleaner like - Muc Off. If you can, clean it after every ride to keep it looking its best. Also, remember to relubricate the chain with a suitable dry lubricant after cleaning. Please resist using a pressure washer on your bike. Not because of the electronics, but the high-pressure water that pushes the factory grease out of the internal bearings and leaves them dry for the next ride.

  • Are electronic devices affected by moisture?

Generally speaking, all the electronic components of our e-bikes are sealed units, from the motor to the battery to the main unit. They are both weatherproof and designed for general use, such as when riding a mountain bike, where there are occasional deep puddles. Your e-bike should have no problem mastering this. If possible, try not to completely submerge your e-bike. For example, if you fall into a lake, make sure you and your bike recover quickly. Let the bike dry before restarting and returning to the track.

  • How long does it take to charge the battery?

All of our electric bikes use lithium-ion batteries. These battery packs charge very quickly compared to other products on the market. In general, it takes about 3.5 hours to charge a 400Wh battery pack to 100% from an outlet. Interestingly, the battery actually charges about 80% in about 1.5 hours, but the last 20% charge is set slower.

  • Should I fully discharge the battery before charging?

This is required for some cheap bikes with different styles of batteries. However, all of our e-bikes have high-tech batteries, so this is not required. In fact, it's best to keep our batteries charged at all times, even if you only drive 10 miles, you only need to charge them.

  • How fast are electric bikes?

All e-bikes are legally required to have an assist speed of 15 miles per hour. You can certainly pedal the bike faster, but use your own pedaling force when the assist descends at 15 mph.
